Everyone knows that the way to win a woman’s heart is to make her homemade brownies. If you’re looking for a delicious yet easy recipe to do that with, this is it!

These amazing brownies are topped with a delectable chocolate buttercream frosting and, in this case, rainbow sprinkles. They are very easy to make and turn out great every time!

A tip for the frosting. When you think it’s ready to be put on the brownies, whip it some more. It may look very convincing, but there is a large chance you might be fooled. I know I was! to get rid of all the lumps, keep whipping it for a long time.

Fudge Brownies with Buttercream Frosting

For the brownies-

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cup  sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup  flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon  salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon  baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

For the frosting-

  • 6 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 ⅓ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ⅓ cup whole milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Directions

For the brownies-

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter or margarine on low heat.
  2. Remove from heat and in same pan, stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla, stir well.
  3. Add in flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt.
  4. stir in chips and nuts if desired.
  5. Bake at 350 for approx.
  6. 25-30 mins, depending on your oven.

For the frosting-

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium speed until it is smooth, about 1 minute.
  2. Add the confectioners’ sugar and cocoa powder to the bowl and beat until combined.
  3. With the stand mixer running on low-speed, slowly stream in the milk and vanilla extract then add the salt and continue beating until well combined, scraping down the sides as needed, about 2 minutes.
  4. Increase the speed to high and beat the frosting for an additional 2 minutes. Use the frosting immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  5. (If you refrigerate the frosting, you may want to re-blend it for a few seconds in the stand mixer before using it.)
